The Sar Pass Trek is one of the most stunning and popular trekking routes in the Parvati Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Ideal for beginners and experienced trekkers alike, this Himalayan trek offers everything from dense pine forests, beautiful meadows, rustic villages, and snow-covered trails to breathtaking mountain views. The word “Sar” means lake in the local dialect, and the trek gets its name from a small, frozen lake (Sar) that trekkers cross during the journey.
The Sar Pass Trek is perfect for those who want to experience the beauty of the Himalayas without venturing into extreme altitudes. At an elevation of 13,800 feet (4,206 meters), the trek provides a moderate challenge, making it ideal for fit beginners. It takes you through the heart of Kasol, Grahan Village, and Min Thach, offering ever-changing landscapes—from lush greenery to snowy terrain—all in one expedition.

After leaving Grahan, the trail becomes steeper and enters dense pine forests. The open meadow of Min Thach offers stunning views of the Parvati Valley.
The path to Nagaru, the highest camp on the trek, is snowy and steep. From Nagaru, you get a majestic view of snow-covered peaks and distant valleys.
This is the most exciting and scenic day. Trekkers cross Sar Pass and then slide down snowfields—a fun and thrilling experience. You camp at Biskeri Thach, surrounded by alpine flowers and green slopes.
The final descent goes through forests and pastures. From Barshaini, you can take a vehicle to Kasol or Bhuntar to begin your return journey.
