The Badrinath and Kedarnath Yatra is one of the most revered pilgrimage circuits in India, forming part of the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. The Char Dham Yatra consists of four major pilgrimage sites—Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. However, Badrinath and Kedarnath are considered the most sacred and attract thousands of devotees every year, seeking blessings from Lord Vishnu (Badrinath) and Lord Shiva (Kedarnath). These temples are situated in the breathtaking Himalayan region, known for their serene landscapes and spiritual significance.
Badrinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. According to mythological texts, it is believed that Lord Vishnu meditated here for thousands of years. The temple is situated at an altitude of 3,133 meters (10,279 feet) in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Badrinath is one of the four sites in the Char Dham Yatra and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
Kedarnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the destroyer and transformer in the Hindu Trinity. Located at a height of 3,583 meters (11,755 feet), it is the highest of the twelve Jyotirlingas. According to the Mahabharata, the Pandavas visited this temple to seek forgiveness from Lord Shiva after the Kurukshetra war. Kedarnath, with its divine energy and challenging trek, offers a deeply spiritual experience for devotees.
