From Delhi to Dehradun: ~250 km | 6–8 hours Regular Volvo and government buses (UTC/ISBT) are available from Delhi ISBT Kashmiri Gate to Dehradun. From Chandigarh to Dehradun: ~170 km | 5–6 hours You can also find buses from Sector 43 ISBT in Chandigarh.
We strongly recommend choosing government buses over private ones, as they are more reliable and punctual.

Tungnath, meanwhile, is where the arms of Lord Shiva are said to have appeared. The nearest airport to Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Tungnath is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. From there, you can hire a taxi to reach Gaurikund (base for Kedarnath), Joshimath (base for Badrinath), and Chopta (base for Tungnath). The nearest railway stations are Haridwar and Rishikesh, from where buses and shared taxis are available to reach the respective base points. From Gaurikund, Kedarnath involves a 16 km uphill trek. Badrinath is accessible by road. To reach Tungnath, you trek 3.5 km from Chopta, a route popular among both trekkers and pilgrims.
The best time to undertake the Do Dham Yatra and Tungnath trek is from May to June and September to October. The temples open around Akshaya Tritiya (April-May) and close after Diwali (October-November). Monsoon months (July–August) should be avoided due to landslides and roadblocks.
Weather in these regions is cold even in summer. Daytime temperatures can range from 10°C to 20°C, while nighttime temperatures can drop sharply. Carry thermal wear, windproof jackets, gloves, caps, and sturdy trekking shoes. Pack a raincoat or poncho, flashlight, personal medications, high-energy snacks, and a reusable water bottle. Oxygen levels may be lower at high altitudes, so it’s advisable to acclimatize well and carry necessary medicines.
At Kedarnath, accommodations include GMVN guesthouses, tents, and budget dharamshalas. In Badrinath, you’ll find a range of options from budget lodges to mid-range hotels.
